Business and professional leaders in Cheyenne recently launched a fundraising campaign called "Progress and Prosperity II" to provide money to assist economic development efforts in Laramie County. This was a follow up to a 1998 project (Progress and Prosperity, The Next Dimension) that raised $1.7 million. The new project was scheduled to last 3 months with a goal of $2.8 million. However, in less than 2 months, $3.9 million had been raised with more coming in. This "can do" attitude and the willingness of local businesses and individuals to put their money where their mouth is shows businesses that Cheyenne is a place that is truly business friendly. When added to the Vision 2020 document that was completed in 2002 it is easy to see that Cheyenne is poised to grow in an orderly and quality fashion.
Wyoming, especially Southeast Wyoming, is a great place to live. It offers job opportunities, a low crime rate, excellent schools, a wide range of recreational activities, a low cost of living, and many other benefits.
Ask any resident of Cheyenne what they like best about this community and invariably the answer will be the "Quality of Life." While definitions may vary from one person to another, most agree that the people who reside in Cheyenne are its greatest asset. As a community, however, attributes including clean air, minimal traffic congestion (affectionately known to most as "rush minutes" instead of "rush hour"), low crime rate, affordable housing, low taxes, low cost of living, good schools, endless recreational and cultural activities locally and throughout the area, good health care and an attractive, temperate climate make it a very desirable place to live. While it is impossible to find a community that is 100% perfect, it is apparent with the growth that Cheyenne is experiencing, others have discovered the benefits of "Life in the West." |
