Getting to Cheyenne

By Car         

Driving to CheyenneInterstate 80 is the main route for driving to the Cheyenne area from either the east or west (434 miles from Salt Lake City, UT; 499 miles from Omaha, NE).

Interstate 25 is the main route into Cheyenne from the south or north (100 miles from Denver, CO; 456 miles from Billings, MT).

In addition, Cheyenne is accessible from the northeast on Hwy 85 (291 miles from Rapid City, SD and the Black Hills) or from the southeast on the same Hwy 85 (49 miles from Greeley, CO). Get current Road Conditions.

Conveniently located only 90 minutes south of Cheyenne by car. To drive to Cheyenne from Denver International, take toll-road E-470 north to I-25. Exit north on I-25 north to Cheyenne.

Cheyenne Transit Program (CTP)
The CTP offers friendly service to get you on your way for shopping, restaurants and entertainment for just one dollar!

From 6 a.m.—6:45 p.m. Monday through Friday, the CTP provides convenient bus routes to get you around town. Monday—Saturday, curb-to-curb service is available (by reservation only) for $3.

CTP also offers additional routes during Cheyenne Frontier Days for your convenience. These buses transport over 6,000 visitors each year during the week of Frontier Days stopping at Frontier Park, downtown Cheyenne, participating hotels, motels and campgrounds and many other stops throughout Cheyenne.

Cheyenne Street Railway

The Cheyenne Street Railway Trolley Tours are a great way to see Cheyenne. The trolley ride is a narrated tour which starts in historic downtown Cheyenne at Lincolnway and Capitol Avenue right in front of the historic depot building.

The journey takes visitors and locals alike through Cheyenne’s historic districts, providing them with a fascinating glimpse of Cheyenne’s western heritage. The trip recreates the history of when Cheyenne was the cattle hub of the west and when it was the wealthiest city-per-capita in the nation. The Trolley makes stops at historic places in Cheyenne such as the Old West Museum or the State Museum.

Trolley tours are offered 7 days a week.

Tickets are available at the Cheyenne Area Convention and Visitor's Bureau located in the lobby of the historic depot building, One Depot Square, 121 West 15th St. Call (307) 778-3133 for tour times as schedules may vary.
